Ideally you should seek a nephrologist opinion. This is just for the cautionary reason, as most of the nephrologist may like to give you a medicine called as ACE inhibitor. This preserves the kidney functions. The nephrologist would also like to further probe to look for any underlying issue by getting microscopic protein estimation in urine (24 hours collection). If nothing abnormal is found, just giving ACE inhibitors and annual eGFR estimation are done for follow up.
