Hello,

Do you know what type of blood tests you were having done?

I am having a blood and urine test for a life insurance policy.
Expert:  Dr. Abby replied 5 years ago.
Xanax should not affect routine blood work (liver, kidney, cholesterol, electrolytes, complete blood count, routine urinalysis).

However, if a drug screen is part of the testing, you will test positive for benzodiazepines.

Do you know if they would normally check for benzodiazepines?
Expert:  Dr. Abby replied 5 years ago.
It depends. A urine drug screen is typical. Whether you will be screened for benzodiazepines...I do not know. It varies from company to company.
You simply need to be honest with your questionaire. As long as you have your prescription from your physician, then you are fine.

If you do not have a legal prescription, you should wait for about 3 days after taking the xanax to do the test.
