Hello,

Welcome to Just Answer and thanks for your question. A carnitine deficiency means that someone either doesn't take in enough protein to produce carnitine, or they have an abnormality that does not allow them to metabolize the protein they do eat properly. Carnitine supplements are the treatment. It can lead to muscle pain and weakness if not treated.
