periodic warm sensation in upper thigh in the femoral artery location. The sensation come and goes. No pain and no pressure. Odd, like warm water poured on leg.

I take metoprolol 100 mg a day and 81mg asprin

your symptoms are likely from nerve involvement.
sensory nerve compression can cause these sensations.
this either from lower back pain or from the weight related nerve compression.
you can try stretching exercises at your lower back & hips
Well, that make sense. I have a pain in my hip that radiates down to my upper calf.
yes, you likely having nerve impingement at the hip.
you may consider physical therapy as well.
on left side the warm sensation is in my right thigh
yes, that is common if especially if you also have lower back problem.
besides arthritis can affect both the hips.
over use of the 'better side' also another precipitating factor.
cant raise my left leg as high as my right... I guess I had better start stretching
yes, only after you see a physical therapist.
