Hello, and I am pleased to help, use of my answers are for educational purposes only.
What type of gas mask filter?
Is the filter in a sealed package?
I am getting a Russian gas mask that comes with the filters for that particular mask (PBF).
The filters are suppose to new and unused
So, this is for particulate, not really gas
Usually masks for Gaseous fumes do have an expiration date - but if in a sealed container then they should be good until the expiration date on the package.
Particulate - meaning saw dust, or dust of any type
And, for particulate - there is no expiration
What are you using the gas mask for
No, it is for gases like, smoke and tear gas.
I would want to use it in case of a fire
Oh, you should be fine with that - this is more particulate protection then
To give myself an extra chance of making it out of the house, if I were in that situation
And, should filter out most if not all the problem gas / particles
I hope this helps, if you have additional questions, please do ask, and PLEASE click on ACCEPT, as this would be appreciated for my time, thank you.
So it should work fine on smoke from a house fire AND should be fine if not past expiry date listed on the package?
Yes, it should for what you need
Since you will NOT be working with it and just being used for a short period of time
such as getting out of the house
What about opened and installed filters? Will they last or does the "shelf life" drop afterwards?
For your short purpose, just keep the filters in a closed container or even in a dresser drawer or night stand draw for emergency use only - and this will work for your purposes.
Ok then. Thank you
