Neurology question - I was diagnosed last week with early MS.

Resolved Question:

Neurology question - I was diagnosed last week with early MS.

I have had symptoms for 6 months that come and go including: low back/right leg pain, urinary problems, tightening girdle sensation around waist, red skin on neck and chest, esophagus spasms, throat/jaw/ear pain, sinus infection, tingling in hands/feet, numbness in nose, fasciculations (random muscles jumping - visible)

Positive test results include: Brain MRI several small white spots (?), Spine MRI (mild narrowing), Lumbar puncture (slightly elevated protein and WBC-100% lymphocytes). There were more results at my last visit with my neurologist, not sure what they were, but that's when she diagnosed me with MS.

I'm having some horrible anxiety after researching on the internet that it might actually be ALS. Could this be possible given the above symptoms and test results?

No - your symptoms are much more in keeping with - relapsing remitting type of MS

It is normal to be anxious!

I guess what I want to know is - if the spinal fluid showed slightly high protein and lymphocytes and the brain MRI showed white spots in a certain location, does this completely rule out other nervous system diseases? Are these tests the standard in confirming MS? I appreaciate your help.

These are the standard tests used to make the diagnosis - taken in conjunction with your symptoms the diagnosis is clear cut.
