Hello,

I am assuming you have an H. pylori infection of the stomach, correct?
Were you or are you having symptoms? (ulcers, abdominal pain, heartburn?)

Yes, H. pylori infections are very common.

Anyone who is diagnosed with H. pylori should be treated. This bacteria is associated with an increased risk of ulcers. There is a possibility that H. pylori can increase risk of stomach cancers.

The antibiotics you were given should be effective, however there is no treatment that has been proven to work 100% of the time. If this treatment does not work, your doctor will likely give you a different regimen. Up to 20% of patients do not respond to the initial treatment. Hopefully, you will not be in that group...
