Why does my skin hurt when I have a fever?

This answer was rated:

I have fever, chills, body aches and my skin hurts as if sunburned (no sun exposure). What can this be?

Greetings.

Since how long are your symptoms?

Were any investigations done?

Any significant past medical history or surgery?

Do you have a sore throat, headache, night sweats, vomiting, constipation/diarrhea, abdominal pain, breathlessness, loss of appetite?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

I've had symptoms for 24 hours. I haven't seen a doctor. No important history. Basically healthy. I had a sore throat when this started. I do have a headache. A little breathlessness. No appetite. None of the other symptoms.

Hello,

A sore throat, headache, breathlessness, loss of appetite, fever, chills, body aches and sun burnt feeling of skin points to an infection (which can be a bacterial infection of viral). The intensity of the symptoms if high grade, points to the bacterial infection and an attention of a physician. So your symptom severity would dictate whether you need to consult your doctor early (which may also need investigations) or can do a watchful waiting if the symptoms are very mild. Pneumonia can be a possibility and will warrant an examination by your primary care physician.
