Resolved Question:

Hi. I started with a fever of 101F about 55 hours ago. A few hours into it, I developed a headache and light stomach cramps. The fever broke 8 hours into it and the next morning I had severe stomach cramping. The cramps would come and go about every 30 minutes and would be strong enough for me to stop in my tracks. Later that evening, I developed a few episodes where the pain made me fall to the floor in tears. Today, that has passed but I still have slight stomach cramps. I did eat raw shrimp prior to this and wonder if that is what it is. I never had nausea unless the pain was so tense and while I've had frequent bowel movements, they are firm and not dirrehea. The pain is in the center of my abdomin. It comes on gradually then gets more intense. It's been 55 hours now. While I am much better than last night, I wonder what this is that is lingering. Thank you. Linda

Sorry for your sufferings.

I need to know some points regarding your query so that I can answer better.

How is your temperature now? or headache?

Is there any tenderness anywhere in the abdomen?

How is urine?

Thank you

No temperature and not headache. The abdomen is not tender and the urine appears normal. Just lingering stomach cramps that has been ongoing for 55 hours. The severity has greatly lessened today. Last night, the pain was so sharp that it dropped me to my knees in tears. It feels like sevre gas pains that I cannot release.

Thank you for the information,

From the description of symptoms it appears that you are having an intestinal infection.

More commonly it is either bacterial or viral.

Viral infection which is commoner usually gets better by 3-5 days.

If it persists, it needs an examination by doctor.

A stool analysis will be helpful to find out the cause.

Take bland diet, adequate fluid & gatorade solution.

Rice, banana & toast are helpful.

I hope this information helps.

Happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Best wishes.
