my aunt had a swollen red ear with red streaks going down her

Resolved Question:

my aunt had a swollen red ear with red streaks going down her neck and starting to go across her face on the side of the swollen ear. No sign of inner ear infection or bumps or bites that she could see. She was treated with iv and oral antibiotics. a week later she started to have high temps with extreme chills that come every 4 hours. Has been on levaquin and chlindamyacin. she had a bug bite from 2 weeks ago 5 red bites on her thigh forming a half circle also one on the back of her knee. No symtoms around the bites themselves. Maybe only coincidence. She had no temperature when the symptoms first appeared and in fact not for the first week. She had a ct of the head and it was negative. Blood cultures wern't done until after a week of antibiotics. She feels terrible and the chills come on with high temp Q4 hours along with the ear redness and swelling

Hello. The problem appears to be of acute Sepsis of the ear and of the local subcutaneous tissue with streaks to lymph nodes in the neck. She needs to be hospitalised and heavy antibiotics given to ensure that the infection is controlled.Blood cultures will guide you to the correct choice of antibiotics.Septic shock may occur and needs to be prevented by adequate medical care. The bites may be contributing to the problem.
