Perhaps the easiest thing is to take your son to the pediatrician, who can get an infant abdominal xray to evaluate where the coin is in the digestive system.

As most coins will pass through the GI tract -- once they reach the stomach -- it will be obvious on the xray if the coin is stuck at the esophageal-stomach junction, or the junction between the stomach and the small intestine.

If the xray shows that the coin is still within the stomach at this time, it probably would need to be removed via endoscopy.

If the xray shows no coin -- then he may have passed the penny on its own.

So, discuss this with his pediatrician.

does it make a difference if he mostly breastfeeds? he has liquidy stools usually so i'm worried thats not why its going through . could that be part of the reason?

That shouldn't make a difference.

The coin, if it is not "stuck" should move along regardless of the meals. So -- getting this evaluated would be best, XXXXX XXXXX would have expected this to have passed by now.
