Your patient is to recieve 6ug/minute of Epi by IV drip. You have available 100 ml bags of normanl saline and 1 ml vials containing 1 mg of Epi. What is the drip rate needed to deliver the ordered dose? Please show calculation used. Thanks

6 mcg/min = 360 mcg/hr or 0.360 mg/hr

1 mg Epi = 1000 mcg

1000 mcg of Epi/100 ml = 10 mcg/ml

Therefore, need 0.6 ml/min or 36 ml/hr to deliver ordered dose
