I have not had a solid bowel movement in at least 6 months

Resolved Question:

I have not had a solid bowel movement in at least 6 months to a year. They are either very loose stools, diahrea (sp), or flat. I think I am in relatively good health but wonder if I should be concerned.

I am voiding every few days........sometimes a couple of days in a row, but usually 3 or 4 days between bowel movements. No, I do not feel that evacuation is complete. No, I don't have to rush. I take the thyroid medicine for at least 5 years, maybe more, 0.088MG daily, Levothyroxine.

Thanks for the additional details. Having gone through your descriptions, I think that your doctor would definitely like to consider IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) out here.

Unless checked up, it will be difficult to arrive at a cause. Having said that, I feel that since we have been having these problems for the last six months, this will require a detailed clinical and a few tests, including colonoscopy to arrive at a possible diagnosis. I think that it would be prudent to check in with your doctor, so that the cause may be established and an appropriate care provided.

I hope that it helps. Best wishes. Kindly feel free to enquire if you have any remaining concerns or doubts and it would be my privilege to try helping you as much as I can.
