How do I clean my liver for better function?
Gender: FemaleAge: 43 Already Tried: Nothing. But I have many symptoms that lead to a congestion. I have noticed that when I drink straight, 100% pure cranberry juice, I feel better, I urinate better, and I don't feel....for lack of a better word...heavy - does that make sense? Any herbal drinks, eating better etc. that would help clean my liver and bring it to better fuction? Thank you much, XXXXX XXXXXXXX
Hello, Kelly,
Welcome to Just Answer and thanks for your question. A liver cleans itself without any interference from us. "Liver cleanse" is basically a strong laxative. Laxatives are fine if you find yourself constipated occasionally, but they have no effect on the liver. They just purge your colon, causing diarrhea. To help your liver, you only need to eat a healthy, balanced diet, exercise, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid things that do affect the liver like alcohol, fatty foods, and overuse of medications like acetaminophen.
Humm... These are things I already know. But I have syptoms like, teeth indentations around my tongue, I pee cloudy and slowly no matter how much water or fluids I drink. I also feel sluggish, and foggy sometimes, and just generally not working properly. Is this a mineral or vitamin deficiency instead? Maybe zinc? According to your site, it points to my liver.
The cloudy urine has nothing to do with the liver. It is a urinary system system problem and you would need to check with your physician to see if it is an infection. etc.
Simple blood tests would discover any vitamin or mineral deficiencies. Teeth indentations on your tongue are most likely from tension. Do you suffer from anxiety or stress?
No, not really. I am in school with 16 hours this semester and have a great husband and 10 year old son. Just the usual family, life problems but nothing to get majorly stressed over. Unless you call mid-terms heavily stressful. The indentations on the sides of my tongue have gotten bad though and my tongue is also swollen. This cannot be stress. I have been doing alot of reading and research to learn the causes, many say this is a food allergy or a zinc deficiency. I take a multivitamin but it is not a strong one. However, I did drink alot of milk last night at dinner, and noticed it isn't quite so bad today...strange.
I expect it may be the stress of exams along with your family life. Please remember that you can't diagnose anything online. Perhaps you could try some gum or mints to give yourself something to munch on. Milk does seem to calm some people down a bit.
So your saying I should drink milk? There are thousands of people who have posted with my same symptoms and have had no relief. How would stress swell my tongue? Don't mean to be rude, but that seems pretty simplistic don't you think? I have had way more stress in my life at various times this, and I didn't have this problem. Its too the point that my tongue is itching, should I see a specific doctor? Gen. Ps dont have any answers.
No, I'm not saying you should drink milk. I'm saying you should get a diagnosis rather than trying to self-treat. An itchy tongue may be allergies to a specific food. You hadn't mentioned the itch before. It could be an infection, or it could be that you are stressed and chewing on your tongue in your sleep. Stress and anxiety can cause many physical symptoms including pain serious enough to send people to the ER with a presumed heart attack. There is no way to diagnose anything online. It takes an examination and blood tests to rule out anemias, etc. By all means an allergist is the one to see for an itchy tongue.
Then I will make an appointment with a allergist, I haven't been to one before as I have never been allergic to anything before including pollen..and I live in Houston. LOL This just started in the past month and I have been checking what I eat that is out of the ordinary, I stopped drinking all sodas and only drink tea, water, juice, milk. nothing with aspartame etc. (feel better!!) But no unordinary foods, can I become allergic to something out of the blue that I was never before?
Yes, you actually can become allergic to something you've tolerated well before. It can also be some obscure thing like breathing in your husband's aftershave or cologne, etc.
Thats funny because my husband started using a new shower gel to clean with, could that be it?
It could be almost anything. He could try showering with something else and see if it improves.
But would the syptoms continue even when we are apart all day from work?
Once your immune system recognizes an allergen, it can continue to react for a while. For instance, you wash poison ivy resin off your skin, but you will still itch for days afterward.
Hummm. Then I think a trip to the allergist is needed. If I tell him to stop using the wash, how long could I expect to notice a change to see if this is the problem.?
I'd give it a week.
Great. I will tell him to stop immediately, and give it a week. If the problem persists, do I systematically remove things for cause/effect? Or do I just go see an allergist?
I would go to see the allergist. It could take you years of trial and error to do it on your own.
