Hello, I had sometime type of ear infection back in Mid-August. My left ear was plugged for two and a half to three weeks. At the time, i noticed a bump on the back on my neck, slightly left of center. I think was a swollen sub-occipital lymph node.Anyway, my ear is fine now, but the swollen lymph node remains. Is this normal, or cause for concern?

Dear XXXXX,
greetings and welcome to justanswer,
do you have fever, pain, tenderness, redness?
what is the size of swollen lymph node and its exact location?
do you take any drugs?
did you consult a doctpr yet?
I first had symptoms on or about the 13th of August, I thought it was strep at the time. My doc gave me amoxycilin. The throat symptoms cleared in about a few days, then I had the plugged left ear. I did have fever at the time, but none since. My ear cleared gradually about Aug 30 to Sept 5th. Also, my girlfriend had the same thing (except the swollen lymph node).
The lymph node, is very slightly to the left of the center of the back of my neck just at the base of my head. It is about 1.5 inches, and i would say the shape is sort of oval. there is no pain or, tenderness.
Thank you for the information,
The chances of lymph node enalrgement as a consequence of infection may be there in you.The enlargement may persist for some weeks to a few months and resolves with time. You may take the drug like motrin, advil to control the swelling and inflammation.
The other causes of such lymph node enlargement like lymphoma, leukemia may be ruled out as well if it persist for a long time. The other causes of such swelling like lipoma, cyst, abscess, etc, may also be ruled out by having the fnac or biopsy of the swelling done though the chances are less.
You should eat good diet and take the antiinflammatory drugs and the symptoms will resolve by itself.
Let me know if you have any doubt.
Thank you!
