I noticed I pass out a few drops of blood whenever urinating. I thought it may be menopause but I stopped seeing my periods 8 years ago at the age of 45. Yes I get hot flares and walk around with under clothes at home but why am I passing out blood droplets?
Gender: FemaleAge: 53 Already Tried: drinking lots of water and some calcium supplements for my osteoporosis. I used to drink CoQ10 but stopped when this blood spotting started.
Hello,Can you tell if the blood is in the urine or is it coming from the vagina?Any burning with urination? Are you urinating more frequently?Any vaginal itching?Dr Abby
No, I don't know if it is coming from my vagina.
No, no burning when urinating
No, normal urination but I travel long distances , more than 100 miles to work daily so I consume very little water
No, no vaginal itching
In fact, I have no pain so I thought maybe menopause is coming back.
Since you are not sure where the blood is coming from, it does warrant seeing your doctor. You likely need to have a gynecologic exam to see if it is vaginal.Since you have already gone through menopause, you should be done with all vaginal bleeding. Any post-menopausal bleeding needs to be checked with an ultrasound of the uterus and possibly more investigation, depending on the thickness of the lining seen on the ultrasound. If the blood is in your urine (which can be determined by a urinalysis done in the office), the cause can be due to an infection in the bladder. Usually women will have other symptoms (burning, increased urination). Kidney stones can also cause blood in the urine. So what you need to do, as I mentioned above, is make an appointment with your doctor. If you have any further follow up questions, please feel free to ask.Dr AbbyIf you are satisfied with my answer, please remember to click accept.
