I am using 1 tablet of Zolpidem 10mg at bedtime and cannot get to sleep. I used Ambien 10mg for a long time and was able to cut the tablet in half and I slept well.
Gender: FemaleAge: 66 Already Tried: I use to take Seroquel,Lamictal,and, Abilify, but withdrew off of these meds because of how awfal I felt on them, then I used Melatonin 3mg 1 tablet, and slept well. I'm also continuing to have hotfashes and this effects me being able to sleep. My pharmicist is putting together a Bio-Identical compound for me to try. I've been dealing with the hotflashes since 1983. ( Had a partial hysterectomy in 1978.) Have tried other treatments, to no avail. I will be 67 in October 2009

Have been taking zolpidem a little over a month. I am not using any other drugs. I am feeling kinda groggy, but not able to fall to sleep.
Thank you for the information,Theer are some common causes of insomnia.The common ones are There are a lot of drugs for the treatment of insomnia.The common ones are benzodiazepines, barbiturates, antidepressants, melatonnin,etc.It seems that you have the side effect of zolpidem.If you are not able to fall asleep then you may change the drug.The melatonnin is a natural hormone which is available as OTc without the need of prescriptions and you may take these drug in the dose of 1.5mg to 50mg.It is advisable to start with low doses of 1.5mg and gradually increase it according to response.It is a very good drug and is recommended to you for insomnia.The other causes should also be ruled out like stress, depression, hyperthyroidism, excess caffeine alcohol, etc.You should avoid the caffeine, alcohol and smoking if you take so.The antidepressant may be needed to control the associated depression if any.Please have a look for more information causesside effect of zolpidemThank you!
