Recent test blood test on my 14 year old showed the following: WBC 2.2, Platelets 131, Monocytes 12, Neutrophilis (Absolute) 1.3, Lymphs (Absolute) 0.7. Test was done due to 3 throat infections within the last three months with current infection when test done. Pediatrician says wait four weeks and retest. I am very worried.

Hello;
Thank you for writing in today. I want to provide you with the best possible information, so I do have a few questions about your daughter. I hope you understand.
Any medical conditions?
Does she take any medications or supplements regularly?
Any recent steroid use, oral or inhaled?
Can you tell me about her recent throat infections and any other infections?
Please let me know.
Lisa
It's my son.He was not taking ny medication when test was done. Previous infection was diagnose was viral and one just a month ago he was given an antibiotic when we were oversees. Can't remember the name but it was strong 875mg +125...This infection started with sore throat and fever and it turned into cough for two days, sore throat 3rd day and fever broke 4th day. Test was done on the third day when he was running a fever and was given Motrin the night.

His lab profile could be concerning for a couple different reasons; however, the most probable, based on the information you presented, would be a response to viral illness. This is likely a response to his recent viral illness. I would agree with his provider about re-checking in 4 weeks. His lab results will likely be more normalized.
As for the antibiotic, it was likely Augmentin, but it likely does not have anything to due with his labs.
Also, out of curiosity, was he tested for mononucleosis?
I hope this helps.
