Hi. Wondering if you could help. I think I might have some sort of infection inside my nostrils. Both nostrils feel tender to the touch and inflamed. Mainly on the inside, but the outside of my nostils are a little red too. My nose hurts when I twitch it. It started with one nostril, a few days ago, and this morning the other one feels 'infected' too. I have been putting antibacterial/antiseptic cream on the inside of my nose. From the outside, the tip of my nose feels tender and swollen on both sides. I dont appear to have any other symptoms. I was wondering if you have any suggestions? Many thanks for your help, in advance.
Gender: MaleAge: 29 Already Tried: Tried antiseptic/antibacterial cream inside the nose.
The first treatment that I would suggest you are already doing - applying antibiotic ointment to the inside of your nose. YOu can also apply it to the outside of your nose. Be sure you are cleaning your face morning and night with soap and warm water as well. YOu are probably already doing that. Is there any drainage and if so, what color is it? Any fever? Any open sores?
Thanks for the quick reply!Yes I'm keeping everything very clean.I dont think it's antibiotic ointment I'm using - it's just antiseptic, it's not a prescription. Do you think I see a doctor to get some antibiotic ointment? No drainage really, my nose is a little runny though. No fever, no open sores, no other symptoms.
You can get triple antibiotic ointment at any pharmacy or store like Wal-mart in the pharmacy area. The generic store brand will work fine. I would try using it for a couple of days twice a day and see if it helps. If it appears to be getting worse, I would suggest seeing a doctor. If you are wiping &/or blowing your nose a lot, that could also cause your nose to be sore and red.
