My doctors nurse said that it sounds like I have an internal hemmroid. It is painful but I can still function with my everyday activity. Today it started to bleed, but on the outside, not out of the rectum. And it itches like crazy. It is not gushing blood, but enough to be annoying. The nurse suggested preperation H. I have not used it because I don't know if I should with the bleeding going on. What should I do. It is the weekend and of course no doctor office open. I don't think I need to go the any emergency room for this, but I just need an answer as to what to do from this point.

I have only been applying the clear desitin for itching, but have not tried anything to relieve the pain from the hemmroid. I am a little afraid to try the prepH because I dont know if it will burn now that some bleeding has occured.

Hello

Yes,you can use the following treatment while bleeding of hemorrhoids.

It includes local anesthetics like Benzocaine 5% to 20% (Americaine Hemorrhoidal),applying vasoconstrictors like Ephedrine sulfate 0.1% to 1.25%.These make the blood vessels become smaller, which will reduce swelling.& also bleeding.Apply protectants like aluminum hydroxide gel,they prevent irritation of the perianal area by forming a physical barrier on the skin.If there is excessive pain then apply menthol 0.1% to 1.0% .

Also the cause of hemmorhoid is to be treated.Constipation is the most common cause.If these products does not help ,only then you need consultation of your doctor for the following procedures:Infrared photocoagulation,laser coagulation.
