Last night I took a bath and water got into my ear. Later I noticed a significant hearing loss and pain in my left ear. It feels as if my ear canal is blocked or swollen or even infected. What should I do?
Gender: MaleAge: 65 Already Tried: Tried sleeping on my left ear so that water would leak out. It didn't seem to help.
DearCustomer
Greetings and welcome to justanswer,
Do you have decreased hearing loss or complete hearing loss?
which ear is effected?
did you consult a doctor yet?
I have significant hearing loss but not complete hearing loss. It is my left ear that is the problem. I have called my normal physician and left a voice mail message; however, it is Saturday and I am not optimistic I will get a response today.
thank you for the information,
The treapped water in the ear canal may commonly cause such symptoms experienced by you.It frequently occurs after bathing or swimming.
You may try some remedies which will remove water from your effected ear.The jumping up and down, smacking your unaffected ear with the palm of your hand, tilting the head, placing over-the-counter drops in the ear may help you out in this.
The other method is the use of hair dryer .The hairdryer set to a warm setting can be held over the ears to completely dry any trapped water in the canal.
You should also have the physical examination done by the doctor to rule out any ear drum perforation though the chances are less in your case.
Let me know if you have any doubt.
thank you!
