I will be under going cataract sugury, I am very very claustaphobic, I also just had 32 ablasions removed from my heart in Jan. I am on cardizem to regulate my heart rate, my claustropia is nothing over my face!! I panic! My doctor is going to give me a local anestisia,but I know that will probably not help the anxity, What can I do.

I will be having a lens put in, I did talk to my doctor about my heart issue, that is why I will be put under a local anesthia,.Yes he is aware of the drugs I am taking, the cardizem and a chlorestia med.

Dear XXXXXiegirl,

 

Thank you for the information,

 

The chances of any cardiac complication are less since he will be using the local anaesthesia.

 

You should NOt worry as once the local anaesthesia is given to you you will not feel any type of pain or sensation and will not be troubled by the operation.

 

You may take the antianxiety drugs like alprax or xanax in the minimum dose to control the anxiety.

 

The tent like cloth will be above your face and will not going to trouble you during the surgery and you will be able to breath in a normal way.
