for the last 3months, i have a feeling that there is something in my throat but i went to my doctor, and the have checkend with all mean and they have found nothing, what can i do?
what tests and investigations did you have?
scanning and with camera checking
I assume you had an upper GI endoscopy. You should also have a barium swallow which allows a mechanical assessment of the swallow function.
I would also hope that you had a physical examination to look for any thyroid lumps or other masses at the neck level.
If these are all normal and there is no physical evidence of a problem with swallowing or other mass, then this may be a psychological 'lump' associated with stress and in tat case, you may benefit from a counselor.
In either case, if tests are negative then you can relax in knowing that there is nothing sinister present.
please what is barium swallow and thyroid lumps, i do not have any problem with swallowing,
A barium swallow is the name given to an old fashioned test where they give you a drink then take x-ray pictures as the liquid is passed down the esophagus.
Thyroid lumps are lumps in the thyroid gland that can cause problems with swallowing or feelings of blockages when they become very large. However most doctors will feel your neck to look for this.
so what can i do now,
Make an appointment with an ear, nose and throat specialist however if nothing has been found so far then it may be that there is nothing to find.
why i am scared is that a friend told me is one of the systoms of hiv,
HIV has a number of symptoms of infection, a lump in the throat is not something that I typically associate with HIV.
If you had engaged in behavior that may have put you at risk then you are best asking for a HIV test to settle the matter.
i am scared to take a test, but i had unprotected sex one year back, my wife is having our first baby, she had hiv test in may and it was negative, so what do you think?
If you had unprotected intercourse then it is possible that you were exposed. The only way to know for sure is to take a test. your wife need not know that the test has been done but it would reduce your anxiety to have it proved.
I am going offline now, but will check back tomorrow to see if this has helped.
