Yesterday I had a bunionectomy performed on my left foot (big toe and tailors). I wasn't told not to drink or eat before the surgery, so the surgeon ended up delaying the procedure for 4 hours, so 5 hours from light breakfast (coffee w/milk, small roll). The anesthesiologist said he would give me a "twilight" dose, not so deep, but not aware either. Today my blood pressure is 101/62 and the T-zone of my face is red. I realize the bp is in low normal range. I've had some orange juice but bp and redness have not changed. (My bp under normal conditions is usually in the normal range) How am I?
Optional Information: Gender: FemaleAge: 59State/Country: New York Already Tried: orange juice foot is in boot, elevated, on ice Tylenol with codeine for pain
Do you take any other medication?
I take cyclobenzeprine (flexoril) daily (30 mg) for restless legs
Thanks for the information.
Having low blood pressure after an operation with anesthetic is quite normal. I would not be worried unless you lost a lot of the blood (unlikely with this operation), or if you have not been passing urine.
Do make sure that you drink plenty of water, if your wound is oozing, you have any fever or you stop passing urine then contact your doctor urgently.
Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX also answer why Any idea why my face is flushed?
Redness in the t-zone can be rosacea or seborrhaic dermatitis, it may be the low blood pressure is causing paleness of your cheeks which is making the t-zone look redder than normal.
It is not a symptom that would worry me at the moment unless you have any change to color of lips or tongue.
