THE AFFECTED AREA IS ECCHYMOTIC AND TURNS DARK BLUE WHEN THIS PAIN STARTS .EPISODES OF PAIN OCCUR ALMOST DAILY,PT DOES GET SOME RELIEF FROM HEATING PAD AND BEDREST.DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS OF WHAT THIS IS,PT. the fact that it is turning blue points to the fact that there is problem with the blood supply of the area which is causing pain. you need to see a vascular specialist medicines like neurontin/ lyrica might be a good trial as they control nerve pain.calcium channel blockers like verapamil should help some as well.
