I repeatedly get bumps under the skin, primarily on my right foot. The skin over/around them starts to look like dead skin. If I pop the bumps, there is a small "crater" underneath the skin. The surrounding skin peels easily after that. It lasts for a long time and eventually the skin will heal for a while and I won't see any more bumps for some time. This has been going on for several years now. It started after I got a pedicure. After the pedicure, there was a patch of what I thought was dry skin on the bottom of my foot. The skin peeled, but skin kept peeling off. I didn't have medical insurance at the time and couldn't afford to see a doctor. I've tried all sorts of lotions, ointments and creams, but nothing seems to help. I've been researching the internet and the descriptions that match sound like abcesses or some form of staph, but there is no pain at all. Any help? Thank you!

Hello and welcome. Thank you for your question. It comes to mind that perhaps a fungus could be causing this problem, since you mention that there is no pain. Is there also no redness? Are your nails affected? It has been my experience in the past that vinegar has removed fungus from the toenails. The vinegar used was apple cider vinegar, and the affected toe was soaked in this every day for approximately 30 minutes. If you are a believer in alternative methods, you may want to try this. I would suggest that you not pop the bumps, as this could introduce infection. I sincerely XXXXX XXXXX helps and you can resolve your problem. Thank you.
Thank you for your quick response. There is no redness. The newer skin (when the dead skin peels off) tends to be darker in color. It has not affected my toenails at all. It is in the arch of my foot. I have not tried vinegar at all. I will give that a go. How many days do you think I should have to do that before the problem is resolved? Are there any other options if the vinegar doesn't work? Thank you!
Try the vinegar for a week or two and then monitor the progress. Another remedy for many skin problems is Tea Tree Oil. It can be purchased at the health food store, and costs about $10.00 a bottle. Best of luck to you.
