My optomitrist says the "flashing" or "halo" I have been experiencing in one eye is due to migraine headach...without the headache. This latest occurrence has been going on for 3 or 4 days; whereas, before it would only last 20 minutes and then go away for weeks. What is this???
Optional Information: Gender: FemaleAge: 75State/Country: Kentucky Already Tried: Nothing...my blood pressure has been quite low, in fact lower than ususal. I am on BP medicine. I've had recent medical exams, blood screen etc. All appears normal. Have slight blockage in renal arteries...but vascular physician says my kidney function is normal, so dont need arterial angiogram at this time as long as BP stays normal, along with creatinin (sp?) reading being also normal. This eye annoyance (left eye always..and way off to the left of that vision field) is something the vascular doctor didn't respond to as being an issue. It is an issue with me, however. My eye doctor (optomitrist) says it's a migraine without the headache....do you agree????
Hello, Greetings,Did you have migraine before? Regards.
yes I have had this so-called "migraine without the headache or nausea" before...several times before over a long period...say, maybe a year or more.
The first time that I experienced it, I rushed to my eye doctor thinking it just might
be a "detached retina". He examined both eyes carefully...said no, the retina was fine
(and still is as I have been examined within the past month or so). That's when he
said "Do you see this flashing when your eyes are closed?" I said yes...he said
that's because it is "neuralogical" not in the eye...but in the brain...that I didn't need
to worry about it...common...and he called it a "migraine" "without the headache"....
Thank you for the inp Flashes of light can sometimes occur normally . This is more common in elderly. In majority cases it is harmless. In elderly migraine can occur without any headache.Retinal diseases like tear or detachment has been excluded. Now you can have an examination by a neurologist to get it confirmed. Hope this information will help you. Wish your healthy life. Any query, please ask. Regards.
