LOW TSH level!

I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroid for a year and probably had it for 1 1/2 year.

My TSH level has been 0.00 or 0.01 all the time nomatter the other levels.

Now I want to become pregnant with fertility help. My TSH is still 0.01 but all other levels are normal.

Will it be possible with the low TSH to carry out a normal pregnancy?

Lorene Christensen
Hello Christensen, a woman with low TSH can have a normal pregancy. During pregnancy, the thyroid shows changes in function which can normally lead to low TSH levels in blood. When the levels of free T3 and T4 are normal, there is no adverse effect on the development of the baby as it can normally make use of the thyroid hormones.

It is only during hyperthyroidismwith high T3 and T4 levels that there may be adverse outcome on the development of the baby's brain.
