Customer Question

what is a cyst with a thin septation, and a cyst with low level echoes within it? will it affect me getting pregnant?

Optional Information:
Age: 39; Female, New York

Already Tried:
I have not tried anything but I went to get a sonogram and this is what it says, that I have a cyst with a thin septation and a nabothian cyst with low level echoes within it, is that why I have not become pregnant?

Hello Customer!
The nabothian cyst is a mucus filled cyst on the cervix which does not need to be treated unless it causes problems. A cyst with thin septations on the ovary may be a problem depending on the size. This should not effect you getting pregnant but can be effected by hormone levels and can enlarge with pregnancy or estrogen stimulation. Depending on the size and characteristics (simple or complex) your dr may advise not trying to get pregnant until it is monitored or shrinks by using birth control pills. If this is a complex cyst and is thought to have malignant characteristics then it can effect hormone levels and will most definitely be drained to biopsy.
Neither of these can explain not getting pregnant though. The only thing I can stretch to say is that if the nabothian cyst is large enough to block the sperm from entering the cervix (which would probably have been mentioned on the report), or the ovarian cyst is effecting your ovulation (which can only be told with hormone levels) then this may lessen chances. These two things most likely though are unrelated.
Good Luck
Hope this helps!

the size of the cyst is 1.1x1.6cm with septation and the nabothian cyst is 1.3x0.9cm

The ovarian cyst is rather large but if it does not mention complicated or malignant characteristics this may be a follicle. Your dr will probably want you to go on the pill for a couple of months before trying to get pregnant anymore to reduce the size of the cyst. Cysts can increase further in size if you get pregnant and then could create a problem with fluid retention in the pelvis. The nabothian cyst does not have to be treated and can resolve on its own or can be removed in the office in a minor procedure, if desired. At this size it is unlikely to affect getting pregnant.
