Is there any redness / increased local temperature / swelling ?

Has he had a fall / got hurt ?

Does he have any known allergies ?

Do his toes appear pale ?

Does walking around / moving aggravate the pain ?

no to questions 1-4 question 5 he was complaining that it bothered him the numbness but he is able to walk and not limp I think it is just more aggitating than anything else. We were on holiday for 13 days and this started about 3 days into it, since we have been home he is complaining of his entire legs being numb

Your husband is most probably suffering from a "Peripheral Neuropathy "
This can be caused by a pinched nerve resulting from a trauma or a degenerative changes of the lumbar spine that include disc bulges and compress on the exiting nerve roots as they exit through the spinal cord.

This can also occur with deficiency of Vitamin B and also be a sign of Diabetes.

Other causes can be exposure to toxins or inherited / autoimmune diseases.

Please have him evaluated by a doctor to differentiate between these.

You can find a good article detailing the symptoms and causes here :
