There is a point of care rapid test that gives results quite quickly- within an hour .
A doctor can do a swab of a lesion and a Tzank smear- also takes only a couple hours if read by a lab.
A culture of a smaple can take a couple days to a week.
The antibody test has a 2-5 day turn around time, but will depend on how soon it gets to the lab, and how often the lab runs the test.
There are DNA tests that have turn around times under 24 hours, but again depend on when the lab runs it ( some labs may only do a given test a couple times a week).
I hope that helps.
