I had a CT Scan done on my spleen. They found two spots approximately

Resolved Question:

I had a CT Scan done on my spleen. They found two spots approximately 3CM round. My Doctor wants me to get an MRI. He says I shouldnt worry because I'M too healthy for it to be of real concern. Any guesses as what they could be? I'm a 38 y/o male in good shape.

" The spleen measures 10.5 cm in length and contains two round hypoechoic lesions measuring up to 3cm". That is all I have at this point. Doctor reported to me that Radiologist said something shows up on CT scan but was unsure as to what it was. He suggested MRI.

Hello,

Focal hypoechoic areas in the spleen can commonly be splenic simple cysts.

Other possibilities are an abscess, a granuloma or regenerative nodules of previous disease.

A contrast enhanced CT scan would be able to differentiate between these.

I had the CT scan. However he wants an MRI done. Any ideas on why?

An MRI would be more conclusive in giving a diagnosis of a Cyst or a solid lesion.

This can be a reason why your doctor has requested an MRI.
