my 15 year old son has a lump under his chin. what could it be

This is most likely to be a small infected gland. It can happen due to infection from any other site, for example, the teeth or tonsils.

However, you should have this checked out. It could also be other things like an infected salivary gland, etc.

You should discuss with your doctor whether an FNAC is needed for diagnosis. This procedure for taking a sample of tissue for diagnosis with a needle is called Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology, or FNAC.
