Customer Question

My husband has a piece of either metal or aggregate in his eye. It is in the iris. It is visible. He went to the doctor and saw a NP. She looked at it and gave him a prescription for antibiotic eyedrops and a referral to the eye doctor on Friday. His eye is extremely red and it hurts. Should he go to the ER?

Hello,

How the metal got there?

When did it happen?

Expert:  Dr. Saha replied 8 years ago.
Hello,

With no reply from you & receiving the already tried part of your mail I feel he should go to ER .

He has tried home measures & further trial is not advisable.

Retention of foreign body can lead to infection of the eye ball , & opacities of the cornea.

These can be dangerous for vision.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Please ask if you need any clarification.

Best wishes.
