Stepped on a nail foot is swollen and really sore how can I stop the swelling

Resolved Question:

There is no skin breakage just a small black spot under my foot.Like I said a small portion of my foot is swollen.Want to know what to do to stop the swelling and handle the problem without creating a doctor bill that I cant afford.

Does it seem hot to the touch? When was your last tetanus shot:?

My last tetanus shot was about five years ago and it does not feel hot to the touch just sore.

Continue what you are presently doing. If you are unsure about your tetanus shot, then I would have this done. If however the area gets red, hot to the touch, and swollen, this indicates infection and you will need to see a doctor for an evaluation.
