Hello -

The simple answer is people will tend to fall which ever way they were last leaning prior to the fainting episode.

There really isn't any medical reasoning to determine if people fall forward, backward, or to the side.

Although, in seeing patients at the hospital, there are probably slightly more people that I see who have hit the back of their head, vs the front of their head (with the side of the head coming in a distant third) after falls from standing.
