Hello Jesse397,
Id like to help but need some additional information. How long have you had this rash? Has it gotten worse over time? Are you allergic to anything? Are you exposed to chemicals in your work or hobby or at home? Any new products in your house that youve used, a new soap or detergent? Does it itch? Anyone else in your home have a rash?

Thanks for clarifying,
Sincerely,
Susan

Rash comes and goes. Had it last night. Now again. Seems to flair up. Didn't bother me all day until after lunch. Skin is very rough to touch. Looks like pimples. Not exposed to chemicals or anything. Live alone. Rash has remained on thighs since last night but is not itchy.

Hello Jesse397,

Thanks for the image, a picture does speak 1000 words. Online, of course, no one can make a diagnosis, but from what I see, that rash almost has a hive like appearance...red bumps on a red base. However the picture isnt the clearest, and many rashes can have a similar look. You do state youve had no new products of any type...Im also guessing youve not recently started any new medications of any type.

Rashes that can look similar include the rash of scabies pictured here: http://www.dermnet.com/thumbnailIndex.cfm?moduleID=10&moduleGroupID=266&groupIndex=2&numcols=0 (though scabies is usually intensely itchy) , molluscum, pictured here: http://www.dermnet.com/thumbnailIndex.cfm?moduleID=21&moduleGroupID=621&groupIndex=0&numcols=0 and even chicken pox, pictured here: (though I bet youve had it already or have been vaccinated as a child). http://www.dermnet.com/thumbnailIndex.cfm?moduleID=21&moduleGroupID=625&groupIndex=1&numcols=0

From what I see of this rash, however, it does not look like its fungal in origen (though I could be wrong).

You dont sound too uncomfortable, and There are over the counter cortizone creams you can try for this. Hydrocortizone creams (if you know you can use them safely) can be more helpful than the piritin youve been using. IF they dont work in two or so days, I would make an appointment with your doctor for an evaluation. And of course, if you get worse and have troubles breathing, or this rash spreads or becomes unbearable, thats a good reason to seek help sooner.

I hope that helped,
Sincerely,
Susan
