The best recommendation probably will come from your regular doctor - to the neurosurgeon with whom they have a good relationship.

I say this because the actual surgical procedure for placing a morphine pump is simple for neurosurgeons, and involves two incisions, with the actual procedure being one of the more simple procedures that we perform. So it does not take "extraordinary skill" to perform, and thus you won't find a surgeon that is an "expert"in these.

But having a neurosurgeon that has a good working relationship with your doctor will be important, since your doctor knows who in your area does good surgery and is responsive to their patients, and he will know who is not as good.

As for specific groups, the Baylor neurosurgery group and the Methodist neurosurgery group are very large groups of neurosurgeons, and would definately have someone on staff that could place a morphine pump.
