Hello, Greetings!

Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer. By the way, it would help me to know:

  1. How many days since the blisters appeared?
  2. Are they painful? or itchy?
  3. Are they in groups and do they contain fluid as in the picture below?
  4. Is there fever?
  5. The foot swelling: is it painful, and red?
  6. Has the surgery wound healed or are you still having the dressing?

Thank you again for trusting us with your problem. Please reply as soon as possible so that I can finish answering your question.

I have them roughly 2 weeks and they are slowly getting bigger. My wound has healed really well and have just a scar. There is no redness nor heat from my foot just slight swelling. They seem to be in groups but are not itchy or painfull. There somtimes feels like there is a slight pulse in them though.Thank you for your time

There are three possibilities:

  1. Herpes Simplex: but these should have started to dry out by now, and usually there is burning pain, and great toe is an unusual situation. But still possible as you had a surgery done and it could have stimulated a dormant herpes infection.
  2. Allergic contact dermatitis: Possible, but usually itching is present, and if increasing in size, pain and itching should increase.
  3. Tinea Pedis: Usually itchy, but may start like this, later become itchy.

So you have to see a dermatologist to take out a small piece and do a quick Potassium hydroxide slide to find out the exact cause.

If there is delay, here is what you can do(without causing harm):

  1. Use saline compress twice daily.(Add 1 tsf salt in 1 liter luke warm water)
  2. Apply silver sulfadiazine cream twice daily.

Usually it should come down in 4-5 days.

If no response, and increasing see a dermatologist.
