Osteopenia is the name of the condition where the bone mineral density (BMD) is lower than normal, but not low enough to be classified as osteoporosis. Bone marrow density is a measurement of the level of mineral in the bones and indicates how strong they are. Having osteopenia means there is a risk that as the time passes you will develop osteoporosis.
