The most common cause of white patch in the throat is Tonsilitis. but there should be pain .

White patch without pain is commonly due to fungal infection.

Other causes area leukoplakia, leukoderma, keratosis, Lichen planus, Actinomysis etc.

You need to be examined by an ENT specialist to see the nature of patch and swab test may be necessary to evauate it.
