The terminology "gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by erythema" is a common one when viewing the stomach or esophageal mucosa of someone with an ulcer or gstroesophageal reflux disease. While it can be malignant, it usually isn't, but only a biopsy of the tissue can tell for sure.
