Resolved Question:

I am a 68 yr old female who recently had a mammogram and was called back for a second x ray the reason being left breast density. After the second x ray I proceeded to having an ultra sound. I was told very little, if anything except that there was a suspicious area. I should have asked more questions but was in shock at the time. I have now been scheduled for an ultrasound needle biopsy. What is included in having a suspicous area?

Good MorningCustomer

I can understand your concern it is always scary to hear the word "suspicious"

Basically it could mean there is area that could be something other than normal breast tissue.

IT could be a :

~cyst and the biopsy could show them if it has fluid or solid.

~growth of some sort

Remember 80% of the time it is nothing.

The reason they have to do the needle biopsy is because the ultrasound can show somethings but it is sorta a fuzzy black and white picture and just isn't clear enough.

Try not to worry. I know that is easier said then done but you only have a 20% chance of it being anything.

If it was cancer it would be detected so early that prognosis would be good.
