The mucus is lubricating jelly like substance secreted from the colon. Occasionally this can come in the stools when the intestines are irritated by food substances or some infective or inflammatory process. White stripes may be again due to some inflammatory process of colon. Inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis should be looked for if this has been going on for some time. Its been going on for quite awhile ive just been to embarrassed to ask my doctor. I also have severe cramps in my rectum before passing a bowel movement. I'm 25 weeks pregnant so I eat very health and have no food allergies.
With the pregnancy the initial test would be stool examination. If it gets anything positive then may be flexible sigmoidoscopy can be planned to see the rectum and adjacent part of the large intestine. With your healthy dietary habits, these symptoms atleast need some initial work up.
