Hi princessdiana,

Abnormal bleeding is usually the result of a hormone imbalance, uterine fibroids or polyps. In more rare cases, abnormal bleeding can indicate more serious conditions, but usually results in bleeding separate from your cycle or post menopausal. I would recommend you see your doctor to have a PAP and pelvic exam. A pelvic ultrasound may be ordered to evaluate the uterus for growths such as a fibroid or polyp. Both types of growths are benign and can be removed with surgery although fibroids are more challenging in the long-run. If you are having a hormone imbalance, oral contraceptive pills may be recommended to regulate your bleeding. A blood test may also be ordered to evaluate you for anemia or thyroid dysfunction, both of which may also alter menstrual cycles. If you are soaking a super pad or tampon more than once an hour for more than 4 hours you should call your physician immediately or go to the ER so the bleeding can be stopped.
