Hello and welcome to Just Answer,

I'm the author of Primary Care Dermatology. There's a skin condition called erythrasma which resembles a candida (yeast) infection and is often confused with it, because they both occur in the "moist" (intertriginous) areas... where skin lays on skin, exactly as you describe. Erythrasma is caused by a bacteria. It can be distinguished from a yeast infection by shining a Wood's lamp on the affected areas. Erythrasma fluoresces a bright pink/coral color. It's treatable and curable with an antibiotic by mouth. Erythromycin is the recommended antibiotic. I hope this guidance is helpful. Please feel welcome to write again if you have questions. Best regards, JanelleRPAC
