Greetings.

The main causes of blood in the semen (termed as hematospermia) are as follows:

  1. prostate infection (prostatitis)
  2. prostate cancer
  3. prostate varicies (varicose veins of the prostate)
  4. conditions of the urethra like trauma and growths
  5. lesions in the seminal vesicles
  6. Tuberculosis of the prostate

The other causes are:

  1. trauma
  2. bleeding disorders
  3. lymphoma
  4. high blood pressure

An evaluation by a urologist would be prudent.

have suffered no trauma...do suffer from hemeroids could that the cause.

Hello,

No hemorrhoids cannot cause this. As I mentioned prostate would be the first organ to be screened. Prostatitis is the commonest cause. Getting a urine culture, sperm culture, digital rectal examination by your physician and later on may be an endoscopy will give the diagnosis of prostatitis. If this is ruled out then other causes are looked for.
