Walking or prolonged standing may cause fluid accumulation in the dependent areas like ankles, feet & legs. A number of diseases make this more likely.
Injury to the heel pad or stress due to walking on uneven surfaces can also cause or aggravate heel pain.
Please elevate feet for some time, use a compression bandage like ace bandege, avoid walking for few hours or use a heel cushion while walking & do active up-down movements of the ankles.
If the sweling & pain do not subside ins few hours, please consult a physician for evaluation.
