Is your fever high grade? What is your temperature? Have you lost your appetite or what is the reason you can't eat food? Do you have nausea or vomiting?
Most of the sore throat (pharyngitis) are viral in origin. Warm saline gargles 4-5 times a day would always relieve the pain. For the fever tylenol or Motrin would be good. Once your fever and pain is controlled by Motrin and saline gargles, you should feel better and your nausea also may get diminished. You can take dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) or meclizine hydrochloride for the nausea/vomiting. If these measures don't give adequate relief or abate your symptoms, you will have to consult your primary care physician who may consider prescribing you an antibiotic.
