Take plenty of oral fluids, do frequent warm salt water gargles, suck on throat lozenges or hard candy, suck on frozen flavoured desserts, humidify room air, speak less & take tylenol or advil for pain relief. Honey & lemon also help the pain.
Pain relief should help you to sleep.
If it still not possible to get sleep, you may need a prescription of sedative from a doctor.
Also please consult a doctor for evaluation (including blod work & local swabs) & treatment (which may include oral antibiotics) of the throat infection.
